Susan McWhirter, MD, FAAP
Dr. McWhirter is a native of Glen Burnie, Maryland and has been practicing in Columbus since 2001. She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Maryland and her Medical Doctorate from Emory University in Atlanta. She completed her residency at Emory University and served an extra year as Pediatric Chief Resident, Clinical Instructor.
Dr. McWhirter is a Board Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics and serves on the Pediatrics Faculty at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital. She is serving on the Hospital Authority Board and is a board member of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Health system. She has served as Chairperson of the Pediatric Department Executive Committee and also as Chief of the Medical Staff at Midtown Medical Center.
She is a member of the American National and Georgia American Academy of Pediatrics and is the current district representative for the Georgia American Academy of Pediatrics.
She has a daughter, Sophia and a son, Thomas. She is married to Thomas Brown and is a happy stepmom to Gavin and Lauren. She is a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
